Every September, communities across the world come together to celebrate Recovery Month, and recognise the strength, resilience, and hope of individuals who have overcome addiction. For the team at Frontline Make Change, this month is a reminder of why we do what we do – supporting individuals and family members in addressing substance misuse.
What Is Recovery Month?
Started in 1989, Recovery Month creates awareness around addiction and breaks down the stigma that surrounds it, which can prevent those in need from seeking help.
Why It Matters to Us
As a small community-based organisation providing addiction support services, we’re often one of the first places people turn when they’re ready to ask for help.
We see the challenges that come with addiction and the possibility of recovery. We’ve witnessed the turning points, the breakthroughs, and the small wins that lead to lasting change and we know that with the right support, recovery is possible.
Fighting Stigma, Fostering Hope
Unfortunately, stigma continues to be one of the biggest barriers to recovery. Too many people suffer in silence because they’re afraid of being judged or misunderstood. Recovery Month is an opportunity to challenge those perceptions – to remind our community that addiction is a health issue, not a moral failing, and that recovery deserves to be met with compassion, not shame.
How We Can Support You
At Frontline, we offer one to one support, case management, a stabilisation programme and addiction support programme. Our work is rooted in dignity, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves a chance at a better life.
Celebrate Recovery With Us
Frontline is hosting and taking part in events throughout the month. Join us at our Recovery Café on Tuesday 2 September, a family fun day (with Community Lynks Poject) on Wednesday 3 September, the Recovery Walk on Saturday 13 September and a fashion show on Friday 19 September. For event information, find us on Instagram or Faceboook.
